Loving our Neighbors from a Social Distance

We know many of you are trying to figure our what it means to continue to love your neighbor during this difficult season. We are too! It is important for each of us to continue making relational connections during this time of physical isolation. We have put together a few creative ways that we can show up for our neighbors even during this time of social distancing.

  1. Join us in prayer. Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon we will stop to pray for our friends. While we can’t gather, we can all join together in prayer. We have included a prayer guide to help you and your family pray over some of the vulnerable groups of people in our city.

  2. Provide groceries. We are offering grocery delivery service to several members who are High Risk for COVID-19 and in need of basic resources. We will continue to need pantry items over the next several weeks to make this possible. If you already have extra or are doing a grocery pick up, would consider purchasing any of the following items for us? Leave in one of our drop boxes*.

Items needed: Peanut butter, tuna, canned chicken, granola bars, canned fruit, spaghetti o’s, peanut butter or cheese crackers, boxes of cereal, rice, grits, toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, hand sanitizer, toothpaste

You can also purchase grocery items from our Amazon list and they will be sent directly to us.

  3. Gather puzzles, coloring supplies, journals, etc. Do you have a deck of cards or a puzzle sitting around? We would love to share it with a friend. Drop them in one of our drop boxes*. You can also purchase puzzles, journals, & coloring supplies from our Amazon list. We want to surprise our friends with fun things to do in their time stuck at home.

  4. Draw a picture or write an encouraging note to a member of Homer 413. Leave it in one of our drop boxes* and we will deliver it with groceries or a care package. We want all of our friends to know that we see them and they are not alone in this difficult season.

  5. Give financially. We are in this for the long haul with our friends. We know that the effects of this virus will likely be far reaching for many. We are committed to walking this road with our friends and helping them find a new normal. Every financial gift will allow us to continue to do that.

*Drop Off locations are located at 500 W. Georgia Ave. (there is a basket outside the front door) or 2301 N. Trenton Street (there is a basket under the breezeway).

“People need people more than things” is a common phrase among the team at The Well. Relationship building is a cornerstone of our ministry. Not seeing our friends each week is sad for us! Our team is doing everything we can to continue serving our friends despite the changes in our normal programming. It is a joy to continue serving our neighbors together, even if it is from a social distance for now.
